Volume Scroller for YouTube FAQ
What does Volume Scroller for YouTube do?
Volume Scroller for YouTube lets you control YouTube volume with your mouse wheel. Hover over the YouTube player and scroll to raise or lower the volume without opening the native volume slider.
How do I control YouTube volume with my mouse wheel?
Install the extension, open or refresh YouTube, move your cursor over the video player, and scroll your mouse wheel. The extension adjusts the player volume while your cursor is over the player.
Which browsers are supported?
Volume Scroller for YouTube supports Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera, and other Chromium browsers through the Chrome Web Store. Firefox is supported through Mozilla Add-ons.
Where do I install Volume Scroller for YouTube™?
Install Volume Scroller for YouTube from the Chrome Web Store for Chrome, Brave, Helium, Opera, and other Chromium browsers, or from Mozilla Add-ons for Firefox, Zen, and other Firefox-based browsers.
Does it work with YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Volume Scroller for YouTube works on YouTube Shorts pages, so you can scroll over the Shorts player to adjust volume.
Does it work with YouTube Music?
Yes. Volume Scroller for YouTube works on YouTube Music, including music.youtube.com.
Does it work on embedded YouTube videos?
Yes. Embedded YouTube players are supported when embedded players are enabled in the extension popup.
Does it work in fullscreen?
Yes. Scroll over the fullscreen YouTube player and Volume Scroller for YouTube will adjust volume the same way it does on the regular watch page.
Can I customize the scroll behavior?
Yes. You can change the step size, require modifier keys, reverse the scroll direction, choose the volume indicator layout, set the theme, enable embedded players, and optionally remember volume. See how to customize Volume Scroller for a walkthrough.
Does the extension collect my YouTube history or personal data?
No. The extension has no telemetry and does not send your YouTube history or settings to us. Settings stay in browser storage, and optional saved volume stays local or in browser sync storage. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Why is Volume Scroller not working on a video?
Check that the extension is enabled, your cursor is over the player, and no modifier key is required unless you configured one. If the video is embedded on another site, make sure embedded players are enabled. Refresh the tab after changing settings.
Why did the page volume or mute state change?
Volume Scroller for YouTube uses YouTube player behavior, so volume and mute changes behave like native YouTube controls.
How do I get help or report a bug?
